How to fill in the French registration form, step by step

The MicroChrono form is in French, because your file goes to the French administration in French. It has six short steps. Below, each French label is translated and explained, so you can fill it in on your own in about five minutes. If you get stuck, message us on WhatsApp: we answer in English.

In short

  • 6 steps, about 5 minutes.
  • Have a clear photo of your passport, national identity card or residence permit ready.
  • If you are not French, a French social security number is not required to fill in the form.
  • You sign online, and we check your file before sending it to the administration.

Before you start: what to prepare

A clear photo or scan of your identity document: passport, national identity card or residence permit (titre de séjour). If you are not a citizen of the European Union, the EEA or Switzerland, your residence permit must allow you to work as a self-employed person.

Your address in France, a phone number and an e-mail address you read: we send your follow-up there. A proof of address is optional in our form.

Step 1 — « Identité & contact » (identity and contact)

  • Civilité: Monsieur (Mr) or Madame (Ms).
  • Prénom (first name) and Nom (last name): exactly as on your identity document.
  • Email and Téléphone: where we contact you about your file.
  • Tick the box to accept the terms of sale (CGV), the terms of use (CGU) and the privacy policy.

Step 2 — « Naissance » (birth)

  • Date de naissance: your date of birth (day, month, year).
  • Nationalité: your nationality, in French if you can (for example « Algérienne », « Indienne », « Espagnole »).
  • Numéro de sécurité sociale: your French social security number. If you are not French and do not have one yet, tick « Je n'ai pas encore de numéro de sécurité sociale ».
  • Pays de naissance and Ville de naissance: your country and city of birth, as written on your ID.

Step 3 — « Infos complémentaires » (address and options)

  • Adresse personnelle: your home address in France (Adresse, Code postal, Ville). Pays de résidence: France.
  • « Votre nom figure-t-il sur la boîte aux lettres ? » (is your name on the letterbox?): if not, answer « Non » and write the name that is on it, for example the person who hosts you.
  • Adresse de l'entreprise: « Oui » registers your business at your home, the most common choice. « Non » lets you give another address or a domiciliation company (its address and its SIREN number).
  • Tick the box about « publicité légale »: the address of a business is published in the official register.
  • Rythme de cotisations: declare and pay your social contributions every month (« Mensuel ») or every quarter (« Trimestriel »).
  • Versement libératoire: an option to pay your income tax as a small percentage of your turnover, only possible under an income ceiling. Answer « Non » if you are not sure.

Step 4 — « Activité » (your activity)

  • Date de début d'activité: the date you plan to start.
  • Nom commercial: an optional trade name.
  • Catégorie d'activité and Activité précise: choose the category, then describe what you will do in a few French words, for example « Livraison de repas à vélo » (food delivery by bike) or « Ménage chez les particuliers » (home cleaning).
  • Autres activités: up to four other activities, optional.
  • « J'autorise la diffusion de mon SIRET publiquement »: « Oui » (recommended) keeps your business details public in the official directories, so clients and platforms can find you. « Non » hides your name, first name and address, except your town; your SIREN, SIRET and activity stay public. If you choose « Non », also tick « Je comprends et confirme mon choix de non-diffusion ».

Step 5 — « Récapitulatif & Signature » (summary and signature)

  • Read the summary of your file and correct anything wrong.
  • Type de document d'identité: Passeport, Carte nationale d'identité or Titre de séjour, then upload the photo (front, plus the back of an identity card or a residence permit).
  • Signature manuscrite: sign with your finger or mouse; write your full name under « Nom et Prénom pour signature »; accept the « mandat de transmission », which allows us to send your file to the administration for you.

Step 6 — « Options & Paiement » (payment)

You pay our service online by card. A priority option (file handled within 24 working hours) and a promo code field are optional. Registering a micro-enterprise is free with the administration: you pay for our help, our checks and the follow-up.

After payment

We check your file and send it to the official one-stop shop for business formalities (guichet unique, run by INPI). The INSEE then gives your SIRET number, usually within a few days, sometimes several weeks: this delay depends on the administration and is not guaranteed. You follow each stage by e-mail and on your tracking page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I answer the form in English?

The labels are in French, but most answers are the same in every language: names, addresses, dates. For the activity, use a short French description like the examples above, or ask us on WhatsApp.

Which identity document should I upload?

A valid passport, national identity card or residence permit, readable and not cut. If you are not from the EU, the EEA or Switzerland, your residence permit must allow self-employment.

I made a mistake after paying. What can I do?

Write to us before your file is sent: we correct it with you. That is one of the reasons we check every file by hand.
